Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is spreading its wings and expanding.

Wendy and Matt McCrory, owners of the Downtown and Collierville locations, have purchased franchising rights from the Bonner family - the founders of the locally famous restaurant.

There are currently five locations in the Memphis area and one in Nashville with plans for stores in Little Rock, Austin, Texas and Southaven.

Many women from across North Mississippi participated.

The instructor was Memphis' Joel Gingery, a former U.S. Navy Seal who has been involved in martial arts his entire life.

'Private jet experience' coming to Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - There is a new airline coming to the Mid-South and it will be based in the Bluff City.

Southern Airways Express is described as a "private jet experience that is affordable for the general public".

Prop planes frequent the General Dewitt Spain Airport and the Olive Branch Airport, but next month, you can expect to see planes of a different type.

"You don't pay for parking, you don't show up two hours ahead to go through security hassles, you can bring all the shampoo you want on the plane, you don't pay for bag fees," said Southern Airways Express Chief Operating Officer Keith Sisson. "We are flying nine seat aircraft that have been outfitted with a VIP executive luxury package."

Sheriff substation opens in DeSoto County

DESOTO COUNTY, MS- (WMC-TV) - A new substation is open in DeSoto County aimed at keeping its residents safer.

The new substation is located on the east side of the county in Olive Branch. It currently shares a building with a car dealership but it is fully operational and will aim to get help the sheriff's office respond quicker to that side of the county.

"The bottom line is the response time has been inadequate in Sheriff Rasco's eyes," said Dick Hackett, DeSoto County Sheriff's Department.

There is a lot of distance between the sheriff's office in Hernando and the east side of DeSoto County.

"Just traveling from here to Hernando back and fourth, that's an hour. You've wasted an hour," said Sheriff Rasco.

Citizens in the east part of the county will also benefit by not having to drive to the county seat to fill out a report.

Surveillance cams catch possible pharmacy burglary ring in progress

SOUTHAVEN, MS- (WMC-TV) - Police are investigating a possible pharmacy burglary ring in North Mississippi, where thousands of dollars in pills has been stolen.

Pharmacies in Batesville, Southaven, and Olive Branch were targeted but the thefts might not stop there. Police could be dealing with a pharmacy theft ring that stretches into Tennessee and Alabama.

One of the burglaries was caught on camera.

Four break-ins in the past week have pharmacists like Ann Pitts uneasy.

"Kind of a little nervous down here," said Pitts.

"It's pretty obvious that it's probably going to the street market," said Lt. Mark Little, Southaven Police Department.

Pitts works at Super Drugs in Horn Lake. She was upset to hear that the nearby Oliver's Pharmacy lost about $25,000 in Oxycontin and Loritabs, drugs that can triple in value on the street.

In the surveillance video the suspects can be seen using a crowbar to break open the front door.

The official grand opening of the new Child Advocacy Center in Southaven, Mississippi was Friday.

This new facility will help victims of both physical and sexual abuse in DeSoto County.

The advocacy center is the first in DeSoto County.
