Scam on Facebook steals debit card numbers

(WMC-TV) - My good friends at the Better Business Bureau and FraudAvengers are begging you. They're pleading with you.

Don't fall for a debit card discount offer on Facebook.

Both watchdog groups have warned us about an unsolicited offer on Facebook pages. The offer:  20 percent cash back if people link their debit cards to their Facebook pages.

I know, I know. Sounds insane, right?

(WMC-TV) – The crooks behind a debit card scam which first made headlines last week are expanding their reach, according to officials in Mississippi.

Originally, the scammers fraudulently claimed to represent BancorpSouth and asked customers to verify their debit card information.

Doesn't matter that neither BancorpSouth nor any other bank would ever call or text you for the very account information they issued you in the first place.

That still hasn't stopped someone -- or some group -- from using the name of BancorpSouth to attempt to swindle North Mississippians out of their personal information.

(WMC-TV) – Olive Branch police are looking for the masked men that robbed a Domino’s Pizza last week.

The men were armed with pistols and wearing ski masks when they held up the restaurant just before 9:30 p.m. on May 2.

(WMC-TV) - Olive Branch police say they’re searching for a thief who snuck off with “a significant amount of U.S. currency” last week.

Police posted an image of the suspect on the department’s Facebook page recently.

Memphis residents and businesses are invited to bring old and unwanted documents to Cadence Bank locations, where they will be securely destroyed free of charge.
