Olive Branch teens busted for drive-by shooting

Two brothers are in custody in Memphis for a drive-by shooting in Olive Branch.

According to the Olive Branch Police Department's Facebook page, 18-year-old Tevin Hubbard and his 16-year-old brother Devin fired shots at a group of people outside a home in the Chateau Ridge subdivision earlier this month.

No one was hurt.

Both brothers will be sent back to Mississippi to face charges.

DESOTO COUNTY, MS (WMC-TV) - A homemade chemical bomb exploded in a north Mississippi family's mailbox over the weekend.

In addition to felony charges for manufacturing an explosive device, the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department says the perpetrator could face hate crime charges. That's because the targeted family is Hispanic.

Alicia Paez says chemicals from the explosion were all over her yard and the street.

The perpetrator took a two-liter soda bottle, poured a household chemical into it, added ball bearings, and another material to it. All that combined to create an explosion that could have turned deadly.

Bill Strickland, a nationally known author, CEO and community visionary will speak in Memphis, Saturday March 5th.  Strickland was recently featured in the documentary, "Waiting for Superman".  Strickland went from intercity youth to powerful CEO after a teacher changed his life forever.  He now runs Manchester Bidwell Corporation in Pittsburgh which offers vocational training to displaced and underemployed workers.

Mississippi moves to ban bath salts

Mississippi is moving closer to outlawing bath salts and other products containing toxic chemicals that some people are using to get high.

A ban passed the Senate Friday and moves to the House for more work.

The bill would ban mephedrone and M-D-P-V.

Officials say the chemicals are sold under such names as Ivory Wave, Bliss, White Lightning, Hurricane Charlie.

Authorities say the chemicals can cause hallucinations, paranoia and suicidal thoughts.

Vandals wreak havoc on decorations in Olive Branch neighborhood

OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC-TV) - A "Grinch" has neighbors in one Olive Branch community on guard this Christmas Eve.

Andrew and Cory Cox said they look forward to decorating their front yard every Christmas, but they have been keeping a close eye on their decorations ever since their neighbors' decorations were vandalized.

"Making sure that our lights are secure and they're not open to any vandals whatsoever," said Cory Cox.
