DeSoto family attacked with hammer

DESOTO CCOUNTY, MS (WMC-TV) - 68-year-old Rosie Clemmons' mobile home was apparently picked at random early Sunday morning by a suspect whose stolen pickup truck broke down along nearby I-69.

"He wanted to use the phone and she said she would call whoever he wanted," said  her cousin, Dorothy Woods.  "By that time he came in on her. Could you imagine that?"

Woods found it difficult to believe when she heard Clemmons was hit on the head with a hammer.

Second arrest made in Mi Pueblo murder

The Olive Branch Police Department released this update Thursday regarding their investigation of last week's murder at Mi Pueblo:

On Wednesday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m., Jesus Adilio Rivera Castro was taken into custody without incident near an apartment complex in Arlington, TX by the United States Marshals Service.

He is currently being held in Arlington, TX pending an extradition hearing to be returned to Desoto County, MS where he will be charged with Armed Robbery, Capital Murder, and Conspiracy to commit a felony crime.

OBPD Detectives and federal law enforcement agencies are continuing efforts to locate Pedro Cruz Pina and continue to ask the public to call if they have any information concerning his whereabouts.

Mi Pueblo manager dies days after restaurant robbery

OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC-TV) - Mi Pueblo restaurant in Olive Branch remained temporarily closed Friday as employees mourned the loss of assistant manager Alejandro Gonzalez.

"This robbery investigation now transitions into a homicide investigation," said Asst. Chief Mark Kimbell of the Olive Branch Police Department during a news conference Friday evening.

Kimbell announced the sad news in the days-old case.

Authorities arrest three suspected in series of auto burglaries

SOUTHAVEN, MS- SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC-TV) - Two men and a woman were arrested and charged for a series of auto burglaries that stretched from Southaven to Olive Branch.

There have been dozens of auto burglaries recently in Southaven.  The latest arrests were made May 17 when officers arrested the trio of young people.

Olive Branch police use Facebook to interact with community

Though it is already well-known by many residents, here's a reminder that the Olive Branch Police Department keeps citizens well informed of crime in their area via its Facebook page.

Olive Branch police seize hundreds of pounds of pot

Police in Olive Branch confiscated 248 pounds of marijuana during a drug bust Tuesday night, investigators said.

Bryant Terell Buggs, 33, was taken into custody at a rental home in the 7200 block of Maplewood Cove, in the western part of the city. Authorities charged him with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or distribute.

Olive Branch Donates Police Squad Cars to Friars Point

Olive Branch recently donated two secondhand Ford Crown Victoria squad cars to the Friars Point Police Department in Coahoma County. The Friars Point Police Department was in need of equipment due to budget restraints. 

Chiefs of the two Police Departments met at a conference last year and when it came time to rotate two older cars with newer models Police Chief Don Gammage remembered Friars Point Police Chief Tracy Vance. 

The squad cars were presented in a brief ceremony at the Olive Branch Police Department.
