Photo Gallery | Fundraiser makes goal for 4-year-old with brittle bone disease
Last week Action News 5 told you the story about a brave little girl battling brittle bone disease, and a Mid-South community rallying around her.
Bella Parker has a condition that makes her bones brittle. She's had more than 50 fractures, and she just celebrated her 4th birthday. The problem isn't going away, but her family is hoping to make coping a little easier.
Family and friends are helping with a new online fundraiser. And thanks to the help of Action News 5 viewers, Bella's family has reached their goal of $5,000.
The Parkers hope the fundraiser can help with a mobile chair and other needs for the growing and independent Bella.
Bella's disease makes her bones brittle and her body a little smaller.
"She's wearing 12-month-old clothes and she just turned 4," said Bella’s father Bill Parker.
A walker helps her get around, and safely exercises her legs. But equipment, medical bills and constant trips to specialty doctors continues to add up.
Her family has been trying to raise the money to help provide her with a comfortable life in Olive Branch.
Recently the family posted a picture of Bella standing on Facebook.
Bella was featured on the front page of the Indiegogo website this week, thats the platform her projected is hosted on. Her family shared on her personal page that they are grateful for all the support from the Mid-South and online community.
"We get really excited over small things, what most people would take for granted," said Bella’s mother Mindy Parker.
